Fittingly, 2 of the top 3 are Raiders (though Madden is bigger than his Raiders years), with an arguable number 1 ahead of them in Namath. Yes, he was the first TV-era color tv football star with the cultural clout of NYC's "Mad Men" Media power, but was an after-thought shortly thereafter. His cameos on TV and movies and his presence in the MNF booth help his case, too. But Al Davis engineered the merger and engineered a 3-decades long winning percentage that rivaled the NY Yankees, spanning two cities and an NFL lawsuit, all while keeping the Raiders competitive until the Callahan-collapse following the Super Bowl blowout to Gruden's/Dungy's Bucs. They are just beginning to show signs of life once again. Madden has transcended the game into pop culture iconography. He's likely number 1. And again I say fittingly, because Raiders fans like me will say in unison with AL Davis (and rightfully so!), "The NFL has got it out for the Raiders."

Lawrence Taylor is the best football player I’ve ever seen. I’m 52 years old so I’ve seen a good amount of them. I’m also a Cowboys fan so I still remember the fear we would have facing him. He was like a damn terrorist. You didn’t know when or where, but he was going to absolutely wreck something when you played him. Jerry Rice might be the greatest offensive player imo, but if I could pick any player from any position in any era, I’m taking LT all day and twice on Sunday.

Ken Anderson, tied with Roger Staubach for four passing rating titles. The only two players ahead of him are Steve Young (5) and Bart Starr (6). Ken Anderson is the only one not in the Hall of Fame. Anderson also led the league in passing yards twice. He was a great quarterback in an era that didn't coddle QB's the way they are now. I hope he goes into the Hall in the near future.

The Packers Mt. Rushmore= Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr, Don Hutson, Jim Taylor, Forrest Gregg, Ray Nitschke, and Herb Adderley. The Packers have so many deserving stars, it's so hard to select just four, so on my Mt. Rushmore, there are 7 faces. Just be thankful, I don't have 25 faces... which would include, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Donald Driver, Paul Hornung, Willie Wood, Willie Davis, Reggie White, Jerry Kramer, Henry Jordan, James Lofton, Leroy Butler, Sterling Sharp, Jim Ringo, Lynn Dickey, and others.

The number 3 pick fiasco is interesting to me bc Manning to me is a selfish and self-centered boy along with his family bc he crys that he doesn't want to go to San Diego. You should be happy just to be drafted to the NFL regardless of what team drafts you. To play in the NFL is a privilege. Not a right. To cry, piss and moan about what team that drafts you is pathetic. It turns out that he is the most successful QB of the three drafted in the first but it is completely by luck bc he is and was the worst talented of the three.
